Thu Nov 14 17:20:02 UTC 2024: ## Mysuru School Students Visit CSIR-CFTRI on Children’s Day for Experiential Learning

**Mysuru, November 14, 2024:** Students from Ranga Rao Memorial School for Differently Abled (RMSD) in Mysuru had a unique opportunity to learn about food science and technology on Children’s Day. The school, run by the NR Foundation, organized a visit to the CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), a premier food research institute in the city.

A group of 35 students from classes 8 to 10 were guided through the CFTRI by Senior Principal Scientist Parigi Ramesh Kumar. They learned about the institute’s extensive research and development in food science and technology, gaining insight into how food is preserved, processed, and enhanced.

The visit aligns with the school’s focus on experiential learning. R. Guru, chairman of the NR Group, emphasized the importance of real-world experiences for students, stating that “at RMSD, we believe that children learn best when they have real-world experiences.”

Students were particularly enthused by their visit. Varshini C.S., a class 10 student, shared her excitement, saying, “It was an exciting visit to the CFTRI where we got to learn about the R&D in the areas of food science and technology. I never knew that so much science goes into our food.”

Fellow class 10 student Jhanavi H.K. echoed this sentiment, expressing gratitude for the opportunity and highlighting the inspirational value of the experience. “This gives us inspiration to dream higher and achieve all our goals,” she said.

The school authorities believe that the visit was a valuable learning experience for the students, offering them a glimpse into the world of food technology and inspiring them to explore their potential.
