Fri Nov 15 05:00:46 UTC 2024: ## Punjabi Singer Diljit Dosanjh Ordered to Tone Down Lyrics Ahead of Hyderabad Concert

**Hyderabad:** Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh has been served a legal notice by the Telangana government ahead of his “Dil-Luminati” concert in Hyderabad on Friday. The notice directs the singer to refrain from performing songs that promote alcohol, drugs, and violence.

The notice was issued following a complaint filed by Chandigarh-based professor, Panditrao Dharenavar, who cited video evidence of Dosanjh singing such songs at a previous concert in Delhi. The complaint also highlighted concerns about the potential negative impact of loud music and flashing lights on children allowed at the concert.

“We are issuing this notice in advance to deter promoting these in your live show,” stated the notice, which was issued by the district welfare officer of the Department of Welfare of Women and Children, Disabled and Senior Citizens, Rangareddy district.

The notice further instructs Dosanjh not to bring children on stage during his concert, citing the potential harm of excessive noise levels on young audiences. The notice also highlights the potential dangers of flashing lights for children.

This directive comes against a backdrop of increasing scrutiny of Punjabi music for its portrayal of violence and drug use. In the past, several Punjabi singers have faced criticism and legal action for glorifying gun violence and promoting illegal activities in their songs.

The “Dil-Luminati” concert, expected to draw a crowd of over 20,000 people, will take place at the GMR Arena in Hyderabad. While the police have been deployed for crowd control and security, there are no specific restrictions on the concert itself.

Dosanjh, who arrived in Hyderabad on Wednesday, shared his experiences exploring the city on social media, including a ride in an auto-rickshaw and a visit to the iconic Charminar.
