Fri Nov 15 05:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Scorsese Explores the Humanity of Saints in New Docudrama Series
**New York, NY** – Renowned filmmaker Martin Scorsese delves into the lives of iconic saints in his new docudrama series “Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints.” Premiering this Sunday on Fox Nation, the eight-part series offers a fresh perspective on these figures, emphasizing their humanity and the complexities of their lives.
Inspired by his childhood fascination with the saints, Scorsese sets out to unravel the question of their humanness. “Who are these people? What is a saint?” Scorsese reflects, “The minute I walk out the door of the cathedral and I don’t see any saints. I saw people trying to behave well within a world that was very primal and oppressed by organized crime.”
Each episode, penned by Kent Jones and directed by Elizabeth Chomko, focuses on a different saint, including Joan of Arc, Francis of Assisi, John the Baptist, and Maximillian Kolbe. Through naturalistic reenactments, the series portrays the saints as flawed, imperfect individuals, highlighting the extraordinary nature of their sacrifices and acts of compassion.
“The point is that they are human,” Scorsese emphasizes. “If they were able to do that, it’s a good example for us. If you take it and put it in a tough world, if you’re grounded in something which is a real, acting out of compassion and love, this is something that has to be admired and emulated.”
“Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints” begins with Joan of Arc on Sunday, with three weekly installments to follow. The remaining four episodes will stream closer to Easter next year.
