**Hyderabad:** A political storm is brewing in Telangana as BRS leader and Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) has challenged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to arrest him, claiming the police case linked to violence in Vikarabad district is fabricated. The incident, which occurred on Monday, saw villagers attack a team of officials protesting against the acquisition of land for a pharmaceutical project.
KTR, who was named in a police case related to the incident, asserted his innocence, stating, “Firstly, it is a false and fabricated case. Revanth Reddy govt has been an abysmal failure on all fronts…I want the 21 poor farmers in jail to be released.” He further accused the Chief Minister of grabbing land from farmers to benefit a pharmaceutical company owned by his son-in-law, alleging a pattern of corruption and intimidation by the government.
Reddy, however, has dismissed the accusations, claiming the violence was pre-planned by political elements and a conspiracy to stop development in the state.
The incident has sparked tension in the state, with BRS workers gathering at KTR’s residence in anticipation of his arrest. The opposition party alleges that the case against KTR is politically motivated and a ploy to silence dissent.
Over 50 people were detained after the attack on Monday, which saw four senior officials injured. Police investigation revealed that the incident was pre-planned, with the officials lured to the site of the attack under false pretenses.
The incident has highlighted the growing tension between the ruling Congress party and the opposition BRS over land acquisition and development projects. It remains to be seen how this political battle will unfold, but it is likely to escalate further as the state heads towards the next election.
