**New Delhi, November 15, 2023** – Several banks across India will remain closed today in observance of Guru Nanak Jayanti and Karthika Purnima, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday list. Major cities including Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, and Srinagar will see banks closed.
The birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak, is celebrated on the full moon day in the month of Karthika, coinciding with Karthika Purnima.
While banks will be closed in these locations, customers can still access banking services through online platforms like net banking, ATMs, mobile applications, and bank websites.
**Upcoming Bank Holidays in November:**
– **November 18 (Monday):** Kanakadasa Jayanti – Banks in Bengaluru will be closed.
– **November 20 (Wednesday):** Assembly General Election, 2024 – Banks in Belapur, Mumbai, and Nagpur will remain shut.
– **November 23 (Saturday):** Seng Kutsnem – Banks in Shillong will be closed.
**CBSE Clarifies Exam Schedule and Policy Updates**
Meanwhile, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has refuted claims of a 15% syllabus reduction for class 10 and 12 exams in 2025. The board also confirmed that open-book exams and two board exams per year will not be implemented. The 2025 exam schedule will commence on February 15, with practical exams starting on January 1.
CBSE has also stated that it will not declare toppers or calculate overall percentages for the 2025 exams, following the policy adopted for the 2024 exams. Students are advised to remain updated with these announcements.
