**Islamabad, November 13, 2024:** A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 rattled parts of Pakistan on Wednesday, including the capital Islamabad. The tremor, originating in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan, struck at 10:13 am local time.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake’s epicenter was located at a depth of 220 kilometers. While the US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded the magnitude at 5.1, the PMD registered it as 5.3.

The tremors were felt in various regions, including Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, and parts of Punjab. Following the earthquake, residents were seen rushing out of their homes in fear, but thankfully, no casualties have been reported so far.

Earthquakes are a common occurrence in Pakistan, with the deadliest one in 2005 claiming over 74,000 lives.
