Thu Nov 14 10:51:50 UTC 2024: ## Yogi Adityanath Fires Back at Kharge, Accuses Congress of Dividing India
**Amravati, Maharashtra:** Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP leader Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, accusing the latter of being angry at the wrong person. Addressing a rally in Amravati ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, Adityanath claimed that Kharge should direct his ire at the Hyderabad Nizam, whose Razakars, he alleged, were responsible for atrocities against Hindus including the burning of Kharge’s village.
Adityanath further blamed the Congress for the partition of India in 1947, alleging that the party was “greedy for power” and influenced by a “Muslim gang” that deceived the nation. He also accused the Congress of being responsible for the deaths of Hindus during the partition.
The BJP leader also accused the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, currently in power in Maharashtra, of turning the state into a breeding ground for “love jihad” and “land jihad.” He warned voters against falling prey to divisions and cautioned that it would lead to attacks on Ganesh puja and endanger women’s safety.
Adityanath’s comments came in response to Kharge’s recent attack on him during an election rally on Sunday. Kharge had indirectly referred to Adityanath as someone who lives in the guise of a sadhu but has become a politician. He criticized the BJP’s use of saffron robes and its divisive rhetoric.
The exchange highlights the increasing acrimony between the BJP and Congress ahead of the 2024 general elections. Adityanath’s remarks are likely to further inflame tensions and set the stage for a heated campaign in Maharashtra.
