Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, and musician PJ Morton graced the Tamron Hall Show stage on Tuesday, November 12th, with an exclusive performance of his soulful ballad “I Found You.” The song is lifted from Morton’s latest album, “Cape Town to Cairo,” which was inspired by his travels across Africa.
Stationed at his piano, Morton delivered a stunning rendition of the song, leaving host Tamron Hall visibly moved and singing along.
Morton’s appearance on the show also focused on the release of his new memoir, “Saturday Night, Sunday Morning.” The book chronicles his journey from the son of a preacher to a genre-spanning artist. He revealed the cover of the memoir exclusively on the show earlier this year.
During the interview, Morton opened up about overcoming societal pressure to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a pastor. He shared that his father’s impactful words, “You don’t have to be me,” were pivotal in unlocking his path to pursuing music and ultimately led to the career he has today.
Morton expressed his hope that “Saturday Night, Sunday Morning” will inspire others to chase their dreams, regardless of the challenges they may face. The book is now available through Hachette Book Group.
