**Tiruchi, November 14, 2024:** Three schools in Tiruchi district, including a government-aided school and two panchayat union schools, have been awarded the coveted “Best School” award by the Tamil Nadu Government for the year 2023-24. School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi presented the awards at a ceremony in Chennai on Thursday.

The schools recognized for their excellence are:

* **Subbiah Memorial Middle School in Thennur:** This school boasts a strength of 200 students and seven teachers. With smart classrooms, projectors, computers, televisions, a laboratory, and a library, the school has seen a significant increase in enrollment. Students participate in activities such as Spoken English, yoga, abacus, Bharatanatyam, and Silambattam. The school’s headmaster, K.S. Jeevanandhan, highlighted their commitment to quality education on par with private schools, leading to doubled student strength in the past five years. The school also operates an innovative “Breakfast Bank Scheme” to ensure food availability for all students.
* **Panchayat Union Middle School at Pambattipatti village in Vaiyampatti block:** Equipped with a smart class, television sets, and internet connection, the school offers interactive learning experiences for its students. Emphasis is placed on environmental awareness with activities like vermicomposting and farming. Headmistress Marceline Regina spoke about the importance of engaging students in sports and extracurricular activities.
* **Panchayat Union Middle School at Mela Arasur village in Pullambadi block:** This school boasts a strength of 295 students, offering education in both Tamil and English mediums. Students benefit from subject-specific clubs and participate in various competitions such as elocution, writing, and fine arts. The school has requested authorities to upgrade it to a high school to accommodate the increasing number of students.
