Thu Nov 14 12:07:27 UTC 2024: ## Uttar Pradesh CM Accuses Congress Leader of Suppressing Family Tragedy for Votes

**Amravati, Maharashtra:** Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, accusing him of suppressing the tragic death of his mother and sister in an attack by Razakars during the Hyderabad State’s integration into India.

Adityanath, speaking at a poll rally in Amravati, alleged that Kharge’s family was targeted by Razakars, a paramilitary force loyal to the Nizam of Hyderabad, and his village, Varawatti, was burned down. He claimed that Kharge’s mother, aunt, and sister perished in the attacks but he conveniently forgets this painful past to avoid losing Muslim votes.

“Kharge has conveniently forgotten the history of the Razakars and the atrocities they committed despite the personal loss he suffered,” Adityanath said. “Congress is trying to reject history and Kharge has forgotten what happened to his family, just for vote bank politics.”

The UP CM further accused the Congress of historically compromising with the Muslim League in 1946, leading to the partition of India and the killing of Hindus. He claimed B.R. Ambedkar had advised Hindus and Scheduled Castes to move to Maharashtra for their safety from the Nizam’s rule.

Adityanath’s remarks come days after Kharge criticized the saffron attire and “Batenge to Katenge” slogan used by the UP CM. Kharge had said, “Many leaders live in the guise of sadhus and have now become politicians” in a veiled attack on Adityanath.

The Congress has not yet responded to Adityanath’s allegations. This incident adds fuel to the already heated political atmosphere in Maharashtra ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
