**VIZIANAGARAM, INDIA** – The upcoming international airport in Bhogapuram, Vizianagaram district, scheduled to open in June 2026, is expected to trigger a surge in tourism and hospitality investment in the region. The airport’s strategic location between Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam districts is attracting major players to establish hotels and resorts.

The Indian Hotels Company Limited (ICHL) of the Tata Group has expressed interest in setting up star hotels near the airport, with the company’s Associate Vice-President Rohan Ranade recently seeking land allocation from the Collector. The Collector, B.R. Ambedkar, has confirmed the state government’s commitment to developing the airport region as an aero-city, assuring ICHL of support. Additionally, the Collector recommended establishing star hotels near the Tatipudi reservoir, recognizing its tourism potential.

SVN Shiva Jyothy group Chairman G. Shivakumar believes the Visakhapatnam-Vizianagaram-Srikakulam coastal stretch will witness rapid progress due to the airport and the influx of hotels and aero-based industries. The group recently opened the SVN Bay Parck Beach Resort in anticipation of increased tourist footfall.

Sunray Resorts, also located near the airport, plans to expand its services to cater to air travelers and tourists. The anticipated rise in tourism activity is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the region.
