**Kannur, Kerala:** Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] central committee member E.P. Jayarajan has vehemently denied claims that his autobiography is being published, labelling them as “false and politically motivated.” He has announced plans to pursue legal action against those spreading misinformation.
On Wednesday, Mr. Jayarajan confirmed that he is indeed writing an autobiography but stated that it is unfinished and that no one has been authorized to publish or distribute it. He dismissed the content circulating online as fabricated, claiming it was intended to damage the party on election day.
He also refuted the authenticity of the purported title, “Kattam Chayayum, Parippu Vadayum: Oru Communist Karantey Jeevitham,” questioning if he would choose such a title. While acknowledging that publishers Mathrubhumi Books and DC Books have expressed interest in publishing the book, he confirmed that no final decision has been made.
Mr. Jayarajan expressed bewilderment at the appearance of details about the alleged autobiography on DC Books’ website, asserting that he has no contract with them and they have no access to any manuscript. He further condemned the use of a fabricated cover image and misleading content associated with the autobiography, describing it as part of a “political conspiracy aimed at discrediting both the party and me.”
Reports that the book would be released at 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday, Mr. Jayarajan alleged, were a “deliberate attempt to damage his reputation on election day.”
Controversy arose from reports claiming that excerpts from the alleged autobiography criticized the second Pinarayi Vijayan government, highlighting supposed internal weaknesses and disputes within the Left Democratic Front (LDF). Additionally, the unauthorised excerpts reportedly address his meeting with BJP leader Prakash Javadekar, claiming that it was a private interaction misrepresented to the public.
CPI(M) State secretary M.V. Govindan has voiced support for Mr. Jayarajan, stating that the party does not require members to seek prior permission to write a book, though he emphasized that consultation with the party should occur before publication. He confirmed that Mr. Jayarajan’s autobiography remains unfinished and dismissed the reports as “election-driven sensationalism.”
