Wed Nov 13 02:25:49 UTC 2024: ## Dense Fog Blankets Bhopal, Experts Predict Longer, Wider Fog This Season

Bhopal, India – A thick blanket of fog enveloped the city of Bhopal on Saturday morning, reducing visibility to a mere 1000 meters at 6:10 AM. The dense fog persisted for eight hours, from 11:30 PM on Friday to 7:30 AM on Saturday, bringing transportation to a near standstill.

Meteorologists predict that this is just a glimpse of what is to come, with longer and wider fog coverage anticipated this season. “The indications are that the fog could break records this year,” said meteorologist Pramendra Kumar Rakwar. He explained that the visibility on Friday night started at 2000 meters and remained below that mark until 7:30 AM on Saturday.

The fog develops when the temperature drops, creating a chilling effect on the surface air and increasing the moisture content in the atmosphere. When the visibility drops below 1000 meters, it is categorized as fog.

The city also experienced a drop in both day and night temperatures on Saturday. The night temperature stood at 15.2 degrees Celsius, 1.1 degrees lower than the average. The day temperature was recorded at 31 degrees Celsius, a 0.5-degree decrease from Friday.
