**Hyderabad, India:** In a scathing attack on former Chief Minister and BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday dismissed KCR’s claims that people have realised their losses after the BRS’s defeat in the assembly polls. Reddy asserted that the people have “lost nothing” and don’t need the former CM.
Reddy, speaking at an event where newly recruited Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspectors were handed appointment letters, highlighted the Congress government’s achievements in the past 10 months, including job creation, crop loan waiver, free travel for women in state buses, free electricity for the poor, and subsidized LPG cylinders. He also highlighted the conduction of Group-1 services exam, the first since 2011.
Reddy challenged KCR’s assertion, asking, “What have they (the people) lost? Four in your family have lost jobs. Is there anything that Telangana society has lost?” He further questioned who should be role models for the society, “Those who fought for Independence or Telangana statehood, or those who take drugs in farmhouses?” This remark was seen as a veiled attack on BRS Working President K T Rama Rao, whose brother-in-law was recently arrested following a raid at his farmhouse.
Reddy also urged the Transport Department to take strict measures against drug smuggling through vehicles. He further stated that 50,000 government jobs have been filled since the Congress government took charge in December last year.
KCR, who has maintained a low profile since the BRS’s defeat, has recently expressed confidence in the party’s victory in the 2028 assembly elections. He has been absent from assembly sessions, prompting the government to request his attendance.
