**LOS ANGELES, CA** – Action superstar Tom Cruise has officially announced the title and released the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated eighth installment of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.” The film is slated for a May 23, 2025, release.
Cruise shared the news and trailer on his social media, stating: “Our lives are the sum of our choices. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. See you at the movies May 23, 2025.”
The film, initially planned for a 2022 release, faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike. “The Final Reckoning” will see Ethan Hunt (Cruise) continuing his fight against the powerful AI program known as “The Entity,” which was introduced in the previous film, “Dead Reckoning Part One.” This time, Hunt will chase “The Entity” hidden within a Russian submarine, while also confronting a returning enemy, Gabriel, played by Esai Morales.
