**Visakhapatnam, November 12, 2024:** The Anakapalli district police have officially launched a 30-member Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team to handle emergency situations, including protests, agitations, and security at industrial areas. The team, which includes women and will have a special uniform, completed its training at the AR Grounds, Kailasagiri on Tuesday.
Anakapalli Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha, who addressed the valedictory ceremony, stressed the importance of the SWAT team’s role in maintaining law and order, particularly during dharnas, road blockades, and various forms of protests. He urged the personnel to constantly upgrade their skills and remain prepared for challenging situations.
The SP inspected the team’s equipment, including helmets, batons, stone guards, long and short-range shells, smoke shells, and gas guns. Other officials present at the event included DSP A.R. P Nageswara Rao and Reserve Inspector Manmadha Rao.
