**Jalandhar, November 11, 2024:** In preparation for the upcoming Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrations, the Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner (DC), Himanshu Agarwal, has issued a directive prohibiting the sale of alcohol and meat along the Nagar Kirtan route and near places of religious gatherings. This measure, enforced under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code 2023, aims to maintain law and order and respect the religious sentiments of the community.

The ban will be in effect on November 12, 2024, the day of the Nagar Kirtan procession in Jalandhar. Schools and colleges have also been granted a half-day holiday for the occasion.

The DC emphasized that these restrictions are in place to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration of Guru Nanak Jayanti. He appealed to the public to cooperate with the administration and maintain a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere during the festival.
