**Salem, November 11, 2024:** A 51-year-old woman, P. Karuppayee, was tragically killed in a road accident in Salem on Sunday, November 10th. The incident occurred while she was returning home with her husband on a moped.
According to police reports, Karuppayee and her husband, Periyasamy (55), had visited relatives in Thalaivasal. As they were heading back, their moped was hit from behind by a lorry at Manivulunthan Therkku. Karuppayee was thrown from the vehicle and run over by the lorry, dying instantly.
Periyasamy sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Salem Government Hospital for treatment. The Thalaivasal Police have registered a case and are investigating the accident further.
