Patna, Bihar – In a dramatic turn of events, Pashupati Paras, the estranged uncle of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan, has been evicted from the party office that served as his home for nearly 40 years. The move comes after a long-standing feud between the two men, marked by a party split and accusations of betrayal.
The office, located near Patna airport, was originally registered as the LJP headquarters by Paras’s brother and Chirag’s father, late Ramvilas Paswan. Paras, a former Union Minister, had resided there with his family. However, the Bihar government, under pressure from Chirag Paswan, ordered the eviction of the Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) office, which was led by Paras following the LJP split.
Paras had pleaded with top BJP leaders in Delhi to intervene, but sources indicate that Chirag Paswan’s firm stance prevailed. The eviction comes two years after Chirag was evicted from his father’s Delhi bungalow, which he blamed on Paras. He accused Paras of overlooking alleged brutality by security forces during the eviction, citing the disrespect shown to his father’s belongings and photographs.
The current eviction is seen as a retaliation by Chirag Paswan, who reportedly refused to relent after the BJP dropped Paras’ faction from its alliance during the recent seat sharing.
The bungalow was initially allotted to Paras during his tenure as an MLA. When he lost the election, it was re-registered under the LJP. Despite having a separate home, late Ramvilas Paswan primarily resided at the party office, making it his first stop upon returning from Delhi.
The eviction marks a significant victory for Chirag Paswan in his ongoing struggle against his uncle, who was once his political mentor. The feud has left the LJP deeply divided, with the future of the party uncertain.
