**Mumbai, India** – On Saturday’s episode of “The Great Indian Kapil Show,” Infosys founder Narayana Murthy and his author-philanthropist wife Sudha Murty revealed a surprising point of contention in their marriage: money.
While Murthy, a billionaire, expressed a preference for comfort and luxury, Sudha emphasized her dedication to philanthropy. She admitted to prioritizing giving back to society over personal indulgences, including travel. “He does shopping. What do we need in life? Good food, not like chana bhatura, but good, healthy food. We don’t need so many clothes,” she said. “I spend all money on philanthropy.”
Murthy, known for his frugal habits, has been previously spotted traveling economy class on various occasions, including a flight from Singapore to Hong Kong. This detail was confirmed by Saleswah CRM CEO Anindya Chatterjee, who recounted his encounter with Murthy on the same flight in the early 2000s.
Sudha Murty, too, has experienced judgment based on her attire. She recounted an incident where she was called “cattle class” while standing in the business class queue despite holding a business class ticket.
Despite their differing views, both Murthy and Sudha Murty acknowledged that their contrasting personalities make their marriage work. “We are opposites, but opposites attract, so we find a compromise zone,” said Sudha.
This episode of “The Kapil Sharma Show” provided a glimpse into the personal lives of one of India’s most prominent business couples, highlighting the complexities of their relationship and their unique approach to wealth and generosity.
