
Mon Nov 11 01:01:44 UTC 2024: ## Soldier Killed, Three Injured in Terrorist Gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar
**Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir:** A soldier was killed and three others injured in a gunfight with terrorists in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Naib Subedar Rakesh Kumar, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) from the 2 Para (SF).
The encounter took place during a joint counter-terror operation launched in the Bhart Ridge area. According to the army’s 16 Corps, the operation was initiated in response to the recent killing of two village defence guards (VDGs).
The gunfight erupted around 11 am when joint search parties of the army and the police intercepted terrorists in a forest area, a few kilometers from where the bodies of the slain VDGs, Nazir Ahmad and Kuldeep Kumar, were found.
Following the VDGs’ deaths, a massive search operation was launched in the forests of Kuntwara and Keshwan on Thursday evening. The encounter marks a continuation of the intensified anti-terror efforts in the region.
