**SANTA CLARA, CA** – Despite a challenging start to his NFL career, 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is showing positive signs of progress as he prepares for his third game on Sunday.
Pearsall, the first-round draft pick, missed the first six games of the season recovering from a gunshot wound suffered during an attempted robbery. He also missed significant training camp time due to shoulder and hamstring injuries.
“I’m feeling more and more comfortable each week,” Pearsall said. “I’m getting into the playbook, studying, and going out there to execute. I’ve only had minimal practices, so I’m trying to make up for lost time.”
Pearsall has played 88 offensive snaps in his two appearances, including one start. He is developing a stronger chemistry with quarterback Brock Purdy, noting “it’s getting better and better with each practice. The more reps we get, the better our timing will be.”
Despite the setbacks, Pearsall remains optimistic about his future. “I see myself as a huge playmaker,” he said. “I’m going to go out there and make an impact on the game when those opportunities come.”
The 49ers will be looking for Pearsall to contribute even more when they face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The game kicks off at 10 a.m. PT in Florida.
