Perth, Australia: Pakistan secured a historic victory over current world champions Australia in the third and final ODI match on Sunday, winning by 8 wickets with 23 overs to spare. This marks Pakistan’s first ODI series win on Australian soil since 2002, making it a momentous achievement.

Captain Mohammad Rizwan, who led the team to this victory in his first series as captain, expressed his joy, stating, “This is a special moment for me. The whole country will be very happy today. I am just the captain for the toss and presentation; everyone else gives me advice on fielding, batting, and bowling. Credit for the win goes to the bowlers. Playing Australia in Australia is not easy. I want to dedicate this win to the fans.”

Pakistan’s fast bowlers continued their dominance throughout the series, particularly in the decisive match. After winning the toss and opting to field first, Pakistan’s pace attack dismantled the Australian batting lineup, leaving them reeling at 79/5. The hosts ultimately folded for 140 runs, with more than 18 overs remaining in the innings.

Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah each bagged three wickets, while in-form Haris Rauf contributed two for 24 runs.

Chasing a target of 141, Pakistan’s openers, Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique, laid a strong foundation with a 84-run partnership. Ayub scored 42 runs, while Shafique contributed 37. Captain Rizwan remained unbeaten on 30, and Babar Azam chipped in with 28 runs, forming a crucial unbeaten 58-run partnership.
