The Maruti Suzuki Dzire, India’s top-selling sub-4m compact sedan, has just launched its fourth generation, promising a tough fight to its rivals. With over 27 lakh units sold already, the Dzire has a reputation for reliability and fuel efficiency. However, previous generations were criticized for their poor safety ratings.
The new Dzire, starting at Rs 6.79 lakh, addresses these concerns with a major upgrade – it has received a 5-star GNCAP rating. This is thanks to a comprehensive safety suite, including 6 airbags, ESP, traction control, and a host of other safety features as standard across all variants.
The new Dzire retains its familiar dimensions but boasts a number of key updates. The interior, while largely borrowed from the Swift, boasts a lighter beige color scheme and textured accents. Other notable additions include an electric sunroof and a 360-degree camera.
Under the hood, the new Dzire features the same 3-cylinder petrol engine as the new Swift, delivering 82 Hp and 112 Nm of torque. Maruti Suzuki claims this engine offers class-leading mileage of 24.79 kmpl with a manual gearbox, 25.71 kmpl with the AMT, and 33.73 km/kg in CNG guise. The manual transmission remains a 5-speed unit, while a 5-speed AMT is also available (except on the base LXI variant). CNG is offered on the VXI and ZXI variants.
The Dzire is also available through a subscription model, starting at Rs 18,248. Its design has been refreshed to offer a more European aesthetic, and seven colour options are available: Gallant Red, Nutmeg Brown, Alluring Blue, Bluish Black, Magma Grey, Arctic White, and Splendid Silver.
The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire is set to become a formidable contender in the compact sedan segment, offering a compelling combination of safety, performance, features, and fuel efficiency.
