**HAVANA, CUBA** – A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 struck the Caribbean Sea approximately 22 miles south of Bartolomé Masó, Cuba, at 10:50 a.m. local time on Sunday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
While seismologists are currently reviewing data and may revise the reported magnitude, the USGS has already issued a shake-severity map.
The earthquake, which occurred along a fault line, could be followed by aftershocks, which are smaller earthquakes that occur in the same general area.
