Sun Nov 10 16:54:22 UTC 2024: ## Kuki-Zo MLAs Accuse Manipur CM of Lying to Supreme Court
**Imphal, November 10, 2024:** Ten Kuki-Zo legislators from Manipur, including those from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), have accused Chief Minister N. Biren Singh of lying to the Supreme Court about meeting with them to restore peace in the state. In a joint statement, the MLAs refuted the Solicitor General’s claim that the CM was actively engaging with them.
The MLAs asserted that they have not met with the Chief Minister since May 3, 2023, and have no intention of doing so in the future, citing him as the “mastermind behind the violence.”
They further condemned the ongoing ethnic cleansing of Kuki-Zo people, pointing to the recent killing of Zosangkim Hmar on November 7th as an example.
This statement comes in response to the Supreme Court’s request for audio tapes to support claims that the CM was involved in inciting violence in the state. The Solicitor General had told the court that the Chief Minister was meeting with all Kuki-Zo MLAs and that peace was being restored, albeit at a “huge cost.”
The Kuki-Zo MLAs have denounced the Solicitor General’s statement as “unprofessional conduct” and demanded a thorough investigation into the alleged misleading of the court.
