**Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh:** Shiv Kumar Gautam, the main accused and one of the three shooters in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, was arrested today in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. Sources reveal he was attempting to flee to Nepal.
Gautam was apprehended in a joint operation by the Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai police. Four other individuals, Anurag Kashyap, Gyan Prakash Tripathi, Akash Srivastava, and Akhileshendra Pratap Singh, were arrested for providing shelter to Gautam and assisting his escape to Nepal.
Gautam allegedly admitted during interrogation that he is linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and that the murder was carried out on the instructions of Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of Lawrence Bishnoi. Anmol Bishnoi, currently believed to be residing in Canada, is a wanted individual in several high-profile cases, including the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and the firing outside Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai.
According to sources, Gautam confessed to conducting reconnaissance in Mumbai for days before the murder and carrying out the attack on October 12th. He claimed to have escaped to Pune after the murder, subsequently reaching Bahraich via Jhansi and Lucknow.
The police are investigating the possibility of Zeeshan Siddique, the son of Baba Siddique and a Mumbai MLA, being a target of the Bishnoi gang due to his close association with Salman Khan. A photo of Zeeshan Siddique was found on a phone seized from one of the assailants.
The motive behind Baba Siddique’s murder is believed to be the Bishnoi gang’s long-standing feud with Salman Khan, stemming from his 20-year-old conviction for poaching blackbucks, animals considered sacred by the Bishnoi community.
This arrest marks a significant step in the investigation of this high-profile case. The authorities are continuing their efforts to apprehend all those involved in the murder of Baba Siddique.
