Sun Nov 10 20:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Barcelona’s Rising Star Lamine Yamal Out With Ankle Injury
**San Sebastián, Spain:** Barcelona’s promising young talent Lamine Yamal will miss the crucial La Liga match against Real Sociedad tonight due to an ankle injury sustained in the Champions League game against Red Star Belgrade last Wednesday.
The 17-year-old international had been experiencing discomfort in his ankle and was unable to train with the team on Saturday. Though coach Hansi Flick initially hoped he could recover in time, the club ultimately decided to leave him out of the squad.
“We tried everything with Lamine, but he’s still feeling pain in his ankle,” Flick said. “We need to be cautious and protect him. He is an important player for us, but we are confident in Fermín [López], who has also been playing well lately.”
Yamal, a regular starter for Barcelona this season, will be replaced by Fermín López in the attack alongside Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.
While the club has not specified the severity of the injury, it is not considered serious enough to prevent Yamal from traveling to San Sebastián. It remains unclear if the injury will impact his availability for Spain’s upcoming international fixtures.
Yamal will undergo further evaluation on Monday, and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) will determine whether he remains with the national team or returns to Barcelona.
