Mon Nov 11 01:43:00 UTC 2024: ## KSRTC to Launch Premium AC Buses for Bengaluru Commuters

**Bengaluru, November 11, 2024:** The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to introduce a new fleet of premium AC buses, specifically targeting commuters traveling within a 100-kilometer radius of Bengaluru. This move comes in response to the growing demand for comfortable and reliable public transport options for daily commuters, who currently face overcrowding and discomfort on existing buses.

The new fleet will be branded as “Ashwamedha AC” and will feature smaller buses with air conditioning, comfortable seating, and amenities like charging ports. These buses will operate as point-to-point services, connecting Bengaluru with district headquarters and other towns and cities.

Speaking to The Hindu, KSRTC Managing Director V. Anbu Kumar said, “There is significant demand, particularly from office-goers who travel daily within a 100-kilometre radius of Bengaluru. They seek a more comfortable alternative.” He highlighted the success of the existing Ashwamedha series, which launched in February 2024, as evidence of this demand.

The KSRTC is currently conducting a feasibility study to determine optimal routes, service frequency, and fare structures for the new fleet. The study will take into account passenger demand, peak travel hours, and the number of buses needed for efficient operation. While the ticket fares will be slightly higher than those of regular buses, the KSRTC assures commuters that the additional comfort and convenience will justify the cost.

This initiative aims to improve the commuting experience for thousands of people who rely on KSRTC buses for their daily commute to and from Bengaluru. The launch of these premium buses is expected to provide a much-needed respite from the discomfort and inconvenience currently faced by commuters.
