Mon Nov 11 09:53:10 UTC 2024: ## England Cruises to 2-0 Lead in T20 Series Against West Indies

**Barbados, July 9, 2023:** England’s Jos Buttler smashed a brilliant 83 off 45 balls to guide his side to a convincing seven-wicket victory in the second Twenty20 international against the West Indies in Barbados on Sunday. This win puts England in a commanding position, leading the five-match series 2-0.

Buttler’s impressive knock, featuring six sixes, propelled England to a dominant chase after West Indies, despite a late surge, were restricted to 158 runs. Phil Salt, who scored an unbeaten century in the previous match, fell for a duck in the first over, adding a dash of drama to the England innings.

Jofra Archer returned to form for England, taking early wickets and keeping West Indies in check. Dan Mousley, a rookie for England, impressed with his first T20I wicket, dismissing West Indies captain Rovman Powell for 43.

The West Indies tailenders, particularly Romario Shepherd who smashed 22 runs off 12 balls, offered some resistance but were unable to prevent England’s victory.

“It was great to spend time in the middle,” Buttler said. “I was a bit scratchy for the first few balls but I managed to come through that period and really enjoyed it. It was great to be back out there.”

The West Indies captain, Rovman Powell, expressed his disappointment but acknowledged the need for his batsmen to step up. “Somebody in the top four or five needs to bat the majority of the overs,” he said.

With two matches remaining, England is on the verge of securing a series victory, a feat they haven’t achieved in the Caribbean since 2019. The next three games will provide a chance for West Indies to regroup and fight back in the series.
