Mon Nov 11 07:48:09 UTC 2024: ## India’s Winning Streak Snapped as South Africa Clinch Thrilling T20 Victory

**Gqebera, South Africa:** The Indian men’s cricket team suffered a three-wicket loss to South Africa in the second T20 match of the four-match series, played at St George’s Park in Gqebera on Sunday. This defeat levelled the series at 1-1, ending India’s impressive 11-match winning streak.

India, despite being the top-ranked T20I side, struggled to build momentum, posting a modest 124/6 in 20 overs. Early wickets for South Africa, including a duck for Sanju Samson, put India on the back foot. Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya provided some resistance, but Varun Chakravarthy’s stellar 5/17 in the middle overs threatened to turn the tide.

South Africa, in reply, were initially kept in check by Varun’s brilliance. He claimed the wickets of Aiden Markram, Reza Hendricks, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen, and David Miller, reducing the hosts to 66/6 in the 13th over. However, a crucial 42-run partnership between Tristan Stubbs and Gerald Coetzee for the eighth wicket provided the much-needed momentum for a late surge.

Stubbs, who finished unbeaten on 47 off 41 deliveries, played aggressively in the final overs, smashing 16 runs off Arshdeep Singh in the 19th over to secure victory with six balls to spare. He was named the Player of the Match for his crucial contribution.

The series will now head to Centurion for the third match on Wednesday, with the final clash scheduled for Friday at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
