**New Delhi:** In a dramatic encounter at the second T20I, South Africa pulled off a thrilling three-wicket victory against India, leveling the four-match series at 1-1. The Proteas chased down a target of 125 runs in the final over, despite a valiant five-wicket haul by Varun Chakravarthy for India.
India, who won the first match convincingly, struggled with the bat, managing only 124 runs for six wickets. Sanju Samson, who had scored a century in the first match, was dismissed early for a duck, putting India on the back foot from the start.
However, the match swung dramatically in South Africa’s favor in the latter half of their innings. After Chakravarthy reduced the visitors to 78/6, Gerald Coetzee and Tristan Stubbs launched a brutal assault, culminating in a six off the final ball to seal the victory.
Coetzee, who top-scored for South Africa with a crucial 41 off 22 balls, remained a constant threat for India. His explosive innings, combined with Stubbs’ composed knock of 31 off 21 balls, broke the back of India’s chase.
Varun Chakravarthy was the standout performer for India, claiming five wickets for just 22 runs. However, despite his heroic efforts, the team couldn’t hold on to the victory.
