**Basti, Uttar Pradesh:** A startup incubator, Pradeep Dwivedi, has developed a low-cost milk testing kit in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) at an IIT lab. The kit can detect common adulterants in milk, including urea, detergent starch, boric acid, soap, and bacteria, making it a powerful tool for ensuring milk purity.

The kit utilizes color-coded paper strips. A single drop of milk is placed on the corresponding paper strip, and within 10 seconds, a color change indicates the presence of adulterants. The kit is designed to be user-friendly and affordable, with a pack of five kits available for just INR 99, allowing for 40 tests.

“This kit is a boon for both consumers and businesses,” says Pradeep Dwivedi. “It empowers individuals to test their milk at home, while also offering a cost-effective solution for businesses that purchase milk from farmers.” For large companies, the kit is available for a mere INR 1, allowing for efficient quality control.
