**New Delhi, November 11, 2024:** A thick layer of smog blanketed parts of the national capital on Monday morning, with the overall air quality categorized as ‘very poor’ by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
Delhi recorded an AQI of 349 at 9 a.m., but two monitoring stations, Bawana and Jahangirpuri, reported ‘severe’ air quality with AQIs of 401 and 412 respectively. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded a minimum temperature of 17.6 degrees Celsius, three degrees above the season’s average. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 32 degrees Celsius.
The high humidity level, reaching 96% at 8.30 a.m., further aggravated the situation.
The poor air quality poses a serious health risk to Delhi residents. The CPCB has urged citizens to take necessary precautions, such as minimizing outdoor activities and wearing masks.
