**Bengaluru, India** – Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal has offered a job to a Bengaluru-based man, Bhanu, after he shared four thoughtful suggestions for the company’s new Food Rescue feature. Launched to reduce food waste, Food Rescue allows users to purchase cancelled orders at a discounted price.
Bhanu, an active user of Zomato’s delivery service, responded to Goyal’s announcement on X with four insightful suggestions on how to prevent misuse of the Food Rescue feature. Impressed by his contributions, Goyal praised Bhanu’s “good thinking” and expressed interest in collaborating further.
“I would love to know more about you and see if we could work together,” Goyal tweeted.
Bhanu, who works as a Product Manager in a startup, responded with enthusiasm, stating he regularly provides suggestions to improve Zomato’s services. He added, “Always thinking to reduce -ve impact and improve service delivery.”
Goyal’s tweet revealed that over 400,000 orders are cancelled on Zomato every month, resulting in significant food waste. The Food Rescue feature aims to tackle this issue by offering discounted cancelled orders to nearby customers.
“Cancelled orders will now pop up for nearby customers, who can grab them at an unbeatable price, in their original untampered packaging, and receive them in just minutes,” Goyal explained.
However, certain items like ice cream, shakes, smoothies, and perishable goods will not be eligible for Food Rescue due to their sensitivity to distance and temperature.
