Mon Nov 11 10:30:26 UTC 2024: ## Lokayukta Complaint Filed Against Bengaluru North DDPI for Alleged Inaction on Unauthorised Schools

**Bengaluru, November 11, 2024:** The Associated Managements of English Medium Schools in Karnataka (KAMS) has filed a complaint with the Lokayukta against the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) of Bengaluru North district for alleged inaction against unauthorised schools operating in the area.

KAMS alleges that despite numerous complaints regarding these schools, the DDPI has failed to take any action, allowing them to function without proper approval or affiliation from educational authorities. These schools, according to KAMS, are operating outside legal standards and compromising the quality of education, putting the future of students at risk.

The complaint details instances where the DDPI allegedly granted permission to schools even after receiving falsified documents. KAMS also highlighted a case where a private school was granted permission in just five days despite incomplete documentation.

“We raised this issue with the Minister for School Education and Literacy, the Principal Secretary of DSEL, and the Commissioner for Public Instruction,” stated D. Shashikumar, General Secretary of KAMS. “However, there has been no visible action against these unauthorised institutions. We believe this lack of accountability and effective administration needs to be addressed.”

KAMS has requested a comprehensive investigation by the Lokayukta into the alleged dereliction of duty by the DDPI and other officials within the Department of School Education and Literacy (DSEL). They aim to hold the culprits accountable and ensure the safety and educational well-being of students.
