Sun Nov 10 20:10:00 UTC 2024: ## 49ers Kicker Jake Moody Set to Return for Tampa Bay Game

**San Francisco, CA -** The San Francisco 49ers are gearing up for a crucial Week 10 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the return of rookie kicker Jake Moody appears imminent.

The team released kicker Anders Carlson from the practice squad, clearing a spot for veteran safety Tashaun Gipson. This move signals that Moody is expected to be healthy enough to return to action after missing three games due to a high right ankle sprain.

Moody sustained the injury during the Week 5 game against the Arizona Cardinals while attempting to make a tackle on a kickoff return. He has been working his way back to full strength and said on Monday that he is progressing well.

The 49ers opted to keep Moody on the active roster throughout his recovery, a sign of their confidence in his eventual return.

“I’m slowly owning my way back to on-the-field stuff,” Moody stated. “I’m just progressing, making sure I’m doing all the steps needed, not rushing straight back into it, just taking one step at a time.”

Moody, a third-round draft pick in 2023, had impressed in his early season outings, converting 13 out of 14 field-goal attempts and all 12 extra point attempts before his injury.

His return brings a boost to the 49ers’ special teams, especially heading into a critical matchup against the Buccaneers.
