**Jaipur:** The festive season is in full swing, and with Diwali celebrations winding down, the air is already filled with anticipation for the upcoming wedding season. Devautthani Ekadashi, falling on November 12th, marks the end of Chaturmas, a four-month period when auspicious occasions are traditionally avoided. This year, the auspicious day coincides with an ‘abujh muhurat’, making it an ideal day for weddings, leading to a surge in nuptial plans.
According to Acharya Mudit Mittal, editor of Shrisarveshwar Jayaditya Panchang, over 40,000 weddings are expected to take place in Rajasthan on this day alone. The state is witnessing a high demand for wedding venues, pandits, bands, and caterers, all fully booked for the day.
The wedding season will continue through November and December, with several other auspicious dates for marriage ceremonies. However, a ‘Dhanu Mal Maas’ period will start on December 16th, 2024, ending on January 14th, 2025, with Makar Sankranti. During this period, all auspicious events including weddings are traditionally put on hold.
Despite this, there are numerous other auspicious dates for weddings in January and February 2025, ensuring a bustling wedding season for the months ahead. The markets are already bustling with activity, reflecting the festive spirit and preparations for the upcoming wedding season.
