Sun Nov 10 07:40:00 UTC 2024: ## WestJet Revamps Loyalty Program with Higher Tiers, Perks & More

**Calgary, AB –** WestJet is shaking up its WestJet Rewards loyalty program with significant changes coming into effect in January 2025. The program, featuring four tiers: Teal, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, is getting a revamp aimed at “working harder” for existing members while remaining attractive to new Canadian customers.

One of the biggest adjustments is an increase in the spending thresholds for higher tiers. Starting January 1, 2025, Silver, Gold, and Platinum members will need to spend $4,000, $6,000, and $10,000 respectively, compared to the current $3,000, $5,000, and $8,000. However, those who reach a tier at the previous spend levels by December 31, 2024, will retain their benefits for the rest of 2025.

Priority boarding is also getting a makeover. As of January 15, 2025, Zone 1 will be exclusively for Platinum members, while Zone 2 will be reserved for Gold and Silver members and those who purchase extended comfort seats.

The complimentary cabin upgrade benefit is being expanded. Starting January 15, both a top-tier member and their companion will be eligible for a Premium cabin upgrade, a change from the previous policy where only one guest could benefit.

WestJet is also revising its milestone rewards and voucher rules. From January 1, customers will reach a milestone spend at $2,000 (previously $4,000), and have the choice of 20 WestJet dollars, $200 in “tier qualifying spend,” or a $25 Skip giftcard. At $8,000, guests can choose a companion voucher, six guest advance seat selection vouchers, or four guest lounge vouchers. All companion vouchers issued as milestone rewards will now have a two-year expiry date. Additionally, Gold and Platinum members can now combine two companion vouchers on the same booking.

Hannah Fairweather, WestJet’s Senior Manager of Loyalty, stressed the program’s evolution: “We tested all concepts over months and months to make sure we’re making the right changes to the program… As we grow and we expand… we’re starting to get into a position where we can be more innovative and more consistent.”

These changes, which are set to roll out in stages starting on January 1, 2025, are part of WestJet’s commitment to staying relevant in the evolving loyalty landscape. Further alterations are expected throughout the year.
