Sun Nov 10 02:05:35 UTC 2024: ## West Indies Clinch Series Win Over England with Dominant Display

BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS – The West Indies secured a 2-1 series victory over England in the third and final One Day International, cruising to an eight-wicket win at Kensington Oval.

Keacy Carty and Brandon King spearheaded the West Indies’ chase, both smashing centuries to guide their side to a comfortable victory with seven overs to spare. Carty, playing for his native Sint Maarten, struck his maiden international hundred in a blistering 97 balls, finishing unbeaten on 128. King, meanwhile, reached his third ODI century in 113 deliveries, finishing on 102.

The duo’s 209-run partnership was crucial in dismantling the 264-run target set by England. Earlier, England had recovered from a disastrous start, where they lost four wickets within the first 10 overs, to post a seemingly competitive total. Phil Salt’s watchful 74 laid the foundation, while Dan Mousley impressed with his maiden ODI half-century.

However, the West Indies’ bowling attack, led by the impressive Carty and King, proved too strong for England. The English bowlers failed to contain the West Indies’ onslaught, with the exception of Jamie Overton, who picked up his maiden ODI wicket.

Despite the disappointing series loss, England will look to regroup and focus on the upcoming five-match T20 series, which begins at the same venue on Saturday.

West Indies captain Shai Hope expressed his delight with his team’s performance, highlighting their consistency and discipline throughout the series. “We asked for consistency and discipline, and that’s exactly what the guys did,” he said. “The main thing if you want to be an elite team is that you’ve got to do things consistently.”

England captain Liam Livingstone acknowledged his team’s struggles, but also pointed to some positives. “We battled back really well [with the bat],” he said. “Ultimately we didn’t get enough runs. Disappointed with the end to the series but there have been a lot of good parts. We are missing a lot of players. We have a lot of people to come back into the team. Hopefully the younger boys that haven’t played that much international cricket have learned a lot.”
