**Thripunithura, November 9, 2024** – The Ernakulam Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (ERCMPU) celebrated a significant milestone on Saturday with the inauguration of a 2-MW solar power plant. The project, which was hailed by Union Minister of State for Fisheries and Dairying George Kurian as a model for sustainable development, marks the ERCMPU’s transition to a fully solar-powered dairy.

Mr. Kurian lauded the cooperative’s ability to transform challenges into opportunities, highlighting the plant’s strategic location on land that was previously unused. “This project shows how we can achieve development without compromising the environment,” he stated.

Simultaneously, State Minister of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development J. Chinchurani launched a dairy upgrade project online, while Milma Federation Chairman K.S. Mani handed over the keys to a new Central Quality Control Lab to National Dairy Development Board Chairman Meenesh Shah.

Ms. Chinchurani emphasized the lab’s crucial role in ensuring high-quality milk products and supporting the renovation of Milma’s Edappally plant. The new lab is expected to further enhance Milma’s commitment to producing superior dairy products for consumers.
