Sat Nov 09 22:20:00 UTC 2024: ## FEMA Official Removed After Directing Workers to Skip Trump Supporters’ Homes

**Washington, D.C.** – A Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) official has been removed from their position after directing disaster relief workers to avoid homes displaying support for former President Donald Trump in the wake of Hurricane Ian.

The revelation, first reported by The Daily Wire, came to light through internal messages obtained by the outlet. The messages showed a FEMA official instructing workers to mark homes with Trump signage as “no contact” in the agency’s tracking system.

FEMA has launched an investigation into the incident, calling it “deeply disturbing” and stating that the employee acted without authorization.

“We believe this is an isolated incident, but we have taken measures to remove the employee from their role and are investigating the matter to prevent this from happening ever again,” a FEMA spokesperson said.

The agency also stated that it is reaching out to those who may have been missed due to the directive.

Despite FEMA’s response, Republican lawmakers and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have expressed outrage.

“FEMA hasn’t fired this person,” wrote Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., on X, formerly known as Twitter. “But the IRS has been trying to force IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley out for blowing the whistle! We must hold these unelected bureaucrats accountable.”

DeSantis echoed similar sentiments, announcing an investigation into FEMA by his state’s Division of Emergency Management. “The blatant weaponization of government by partisan activists in the federal bureaucracy is yet another reason why the Biden-Harris administration is in its final days,” DeSantis wrote on X.

This incident comes amidst a backdrop of rising tensions regarding the Biden administration’s response to Hurricane Ian, with Republicans criticizing the administration’s handling of the disaster and accusing them of spreading disinformation.

President Biden, during a White House address in October, denounced “reckless, irresponsible and relentless disinformation and outright lies” surrounding the government’s response to Hurricanes Milton and Helene.
