**Kolkata, West Bengal:** The body of a BJP worker, Prithviraj Naskar, was discovered inside the party office in Usthi, South 24 Parganas district on Friday night. Naskar, who managed the BJP’s social media accounts in the district, had been missing since November 5.
A woman has been arrested in connection with the murder and has confessed to attacking Naskar with sharp weapons. Police suspect a personal motive behind the killing, stating that the deceased might have been involved in a relationship with the accused.
The BJP has accused the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) of being behind the murder, alleging that local TMC activists wanted to intimidate BJP supporters in the area. BJP State President Sukanta Majumdar claimed on X that Naskar’s murder was an attempt to frighten their supporters and vowed to continue their fight for justice.
However, the TMC has denied any involvement, with senior leader Kunal Ghosh claiming the BJP is spreading false information. Ghosh pointed to reports of Naskar having multiple enemies and suggested the investigation should explore all possible angles.
Naskar’s father alleged that his son had faced threats from local TMC leaders after organizing protests demanding justice for a victim of the RG Kar hospital incident during the Durga Puja festival.
The investigation is ongoing as police look into the possibility of other individuals assisting the accused woman.
