Sat Nov 09 21:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Wisconsin Volleyball Dominates Iowa in Straight Sets

**MADISON, WI** – The No. 7 Wisconsin Badgers showcased their dominance on Friday night, sweeping the Iowa Hawkeyes in three sets (25-15, 25-17, 25-13) at the UW Field House.

Sarah Franklin led the offensive charge for the Badgers with a match-high 15 kills, while Anna Smrek added 10. Wisconsin’s strong hitting, with a .394 hitting percentage, proved too much for Iowa to handle.

The Badgers started strong, building an early lead in the first set and never looking back. Despite a brief Iowa comeback attempt, Wisconsin ultimately cruised to victory.

The second set was a tighter affair, with neither team able to gain a significant advantage. However, a crucial six-serve run from Julia Orzol put Wisconsin in control, allowing them to take the set 25-17.

The third set followed a similar pattern, with Iowa keeping pace early before Wisconsin pulled away. A 5-0 run fueled by a service ace from Charlie Fuerbringer and strong play from Franklin put the Badgers in a commanding position, ultimately securing the match with a 25-13 victory.

Fuerbringer recorded a double-double, tallying 32 assists and 12 digs, while Lola Schumacher led the team with 14 digs. Wisconsin’s blocking prowess was also evident, outblocking Iowa 10.0-5.0.

Head Coach Kelly Sheffield praised his team’s serving strategy, which put pressure on Iowa’s reception and disrupted their offensive rhythm.

The Badgers will face their next challenge tomorrow afternoon when they take on No. 3 Penn State at 2:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on NBC.
