Sun Nov 10 12:37:44 UTC 2024: ## Pakistan Clinches Historic ODI Series Win in Australia
Perth, Australia – Pakistan celebrated a historic victory in the third and final ODI against Australia in Perth on Sunday, clinching the series 2-1 with an emphatic eight-wicket win. This marks their first ODI series win in Australia in 22 years.
The victory was built on a dominant bowling performance, with Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah taking three wickets each, effectively dismantling the Australian batting lineup for a paltry 140 runs. Sean Abbott top-scored for Australia with 30 runs.
Pakistan’s chase was a comfortable affair, with openers Saim Ayub (42) and Abdullah Shafique (37) laying the foundation for a successful run chase. Babar Azam (28*) and Mohammad Rizwan (30*) then steered Pakistan to victory with more than 23 overs to spare.
Haris Rauf, who bagged 10 wickets across the three games, was named Player of the Match and Player of the Series. He credited his team’s strong communication and meticulous preparation for their success.
The win is a significant achievement for Pakistan, following their recent victory against England in a home Test series.
Both teams will now turn their attention to the three-match T20I series starting on Thursday, November 14th, in Brisbane.
