Sun Nov 10 15:50:00 UTC 2024: ## PSG Stunned by Late Atlético Madrid Winner in Champions League
**Paris, France:** Paris Saint-Germain suffered a crushing 2-1 defeat at home to Atlético Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday, leaving their European ambitions hanging by a thread.
The French giants looked set for a victory after Warren Zaire-Emery opened the scoring in the 14th minute, but Atlético quickly equalized through Nahuel Molina four minutes later. Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances, PSG were unable to find a winner, and were ultimately undone by a last-minute goal from Angel Correa in the 93rd minute.
PSG’s inability to convert their chances proved costly, and they remain rooted at the bottom of Group F with just four points from four games. Atlético, on the other hand, climbed out of the relegation zone with six points.
“We tried and tried, right up to the last minute,” lamented PSG midfielder Vitinha. “Unfortunately, we conceded a goal on their last chance. Would things be easier with a real centre-forward? Well, you never know.”
The absence of a recognized striker was a recurring theme throughout the match, with PSG failing to capitalize on a string of promising opportunities.
Atlético, however, found their stride after falling behind early. “They found the back of the net very quickly but the team then relaxed, started to play and the equaliser came from a great collective play,” said Correa. “That’s the idea the team should have, to play a little more.”
PSG now face a daunting trip to Bayern Munich in their next Champions League match, while Atlético will face Sparta Prague away. With their backs against the wall, PSG will need to find a way to rediscover their attacking potency if they are to salvage their European campaign.
