Sat Nov 09 22:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Flyers Face Tough Test in Sunrise: Defending Champs Panthers Await on Saturday

The Philadelphia Flyers (5-8-1) are looking to build on a recent shootout victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning as they head into a tough matchup against the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers (10-3-1) on Saturday in Sunrise.

Coming off a three-game road trip, the Flyers will face a Panthers team riding a six-game winning streak, having swept the Global Series in Finland last weekend and dismantling the Nashville Predators on Thursday.

The game marks the first of three meetings between the two teams this season, with the Flyers seeking to slow down a potent Panthers offense led by the likes of Sam Bennett (22 points) and Gustav Forsling (8 points).

The Flyers will need to find a way to generate offense beyond Travis Konecny (15 points), who has been a bright spot for the team, and Owen Tippett (9 points), who has shown signs of heating up.

Despite early season struggles in scoring, Flyers coach John Tortorella has been pleased with the team’s recent defensive improvements, especially in taking away the middle of the ice.

With the Panthers boasting a strong veteran presence, including Sergei Bobrovsky in net, the Flyers will need to be at their best to secure a victory. The game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. EST and will be televised on NBCSP.
