**Chennai, November 10, 2023:** Veteran actor Delhi Ganesh, known for his versatile roles in Tamil cinema, passed away in his sleep on Wednesday night. He was 78 years old.

Delhi Ganesh, born on August 1st, 1944, began his career with the Dakshina Bharatha Nataka Sabha, a theatre group in Delhi. He served in the Indian Air Force for ten years (1964-1974) before pursuing his passion for acting. He was given the stage name “Delhi Ganesh” by the renowned director, K. Balachander, who introduced him to the film industry in 1976 with the film “Patti Na Pravesam”.

Ganesh went on to play a variety of roles in Tamil films, including the lead in “Engamma Maharani” (1981) and the villain in “Aapurva Sagodharargal” (1981). He was also recognized for his performance in the film “Pasi” (1985), which earned him the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Character Actor. The Tamil Nadu government honored him with the Kalaimamani Award in 1994 for his contribution to the arts.

He was a prolific actor who starred in numerous films, television serials, and short films. His recent appearance was in the Kamal Haasan starrer “Indian 2”. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

His final rites are scheduled to be held on Friday, November 11th. The Tamil film industry mourns the loss of this veteran actor and extends its condolences to his family.
