Fri Nov 08 21:52:39 UTC 2024: ## Tata Motors to Build New $1.2 Billion Facility in Tamil Nadu, Creating 5,000 Jobs

**Chennai, India -** Tata Motors, India’s leading car manufacturer, announced plans to build a new $1.2 billion manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. This ambitious project, slated to be operational by 2032, will create an estimated 5,000 jobs and produce both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicles (EVs) for domestic and global markets.

The facility, located in Ranipet, will be a joint venture between Tata Motors and its British luxury car brand, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). It will manufacture models from both companies, signifying a significant expansion of the company’s manufacturing capacity.

The announcement comes shortly after the death of Tata Group Chairman Emeritus, Ratan Tata, on October 9. His half-brother, Noel Tata, who now serves as the chairman of Tata Trusts, has overseen this major investment, which aims to solidify Tata Motors’ position as a global automotive leader.

The new plant is expected to be highly flexible, capable of producing both ICE and EV models, ensuring the company can adapt to evolving market demands. This aligns with Tata Motors’ commitment to sustainable mobility, prioritizing green technologies while maintaining traditional offerings.

The project will be completed in phases, with the first vehicles expected to roll off the production line well before the 2032 deadline. This ambitious undertaking promises significant economic benefits for Tamil Nadu, attracting further investment and boosting employment in the region.
