**Durban, South Africa:** India started their four-match T20 series against South Africa with a resounding 61-run victory in the first match, held at Kingsmead Stadium in Durban on Friday.

The Indian team, batting first after losing the toss, posted a formidable total of 202/8, thanks to a blistering century by Sanju Samson. The wicket-keeper batsman smashed 107 runs off just 50 balls, studded with 10 sixes and 7 fours.

South Africa, needing 203 to win, found themselves in a precarious position early on, losing their captain Aiden Markram for just 8 runs in the first over. A consistent bowling display from the Indian bowlers, led by Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi who bagged three wickets each, kept the Proteas on the back foot.

The South African batting line-up crumbled under pressure, eventually getting bowled out for 141 runs in 17.5 overs.

**Samson’s Century and a Clinical Bowling Performance**

Sanju Samson’s century was the highlight of the match, showcasing his explosive batting prowess. He reached his ton in just 47 balls, becoming the second Indian batsman after Rohit Sharma to score centuries in consecutive T20Is.

The Indian bowlers, especially Chakravarthy and Bishnoi, kept the South African batsmen under control, denying them any rhythm or momentum. A combined effort from the Indian bowlers ensured a comfortable victory for the team.

**India Takes 1-0 Lead in Series**

With this resounding win, India takes a 1-0 lead in the series. The second T20 match is scheduled for November 10th in Gqeberha.
